Nature of Thought Waves – Scientific View
Thought waves can be imagined as either being similar to electromagnetic waves or sound waves. It is well known that there is a minute electric field around every neuron in the human body and all our nerve impulses are transmitted as electrical signals through this field to perform various actions such moving a muscle or to make the heart beat for example. The strong link between electricity and magnetism is also well known. There is a tiny measurable bio-magnetic field as well associated with the human body.
The brain is composed of billions of such neurons and so there is an electromagnetic field encompassed all around the brain which is measurable using simple sensors and devices. Brain scans will indicate which parts of the brain are active for which purpose. Thought is believed to originate in this electromagnetic field and is transmitted in wave format. Thought waves are found to follow all the laws of electromagnetic waves as well. For example, if we place two induction coils close to each other and pass electric current through one coil, current is generated in the other coil through the electromagnetic principle of Induction. Similarly, thought waves which originate in the mind of a person can induce similar thought waves in the mind of a person separated by a distance. This is the basic underlying principle behind the phenomenon of telepathy.
Thought waves can also be imagined to be similar to sound waves. We just need to change the frequency of our thought waves and get on to the right frequency. The emotion of fear has been observed to be a low frequency wave whereas the emotion of love is a high frequency wave. When two minds have thought waves of similar frequency, they will resonate with each other.
It can be demonstrated through various telepathic experiments that Thought can be effectively and wholesomely transmitted to another person. The process of thought transmission is also known as ‘
Nensha’ in Chinese or ‘Projected Thoughtography’ which is the ability to psychically burn one’s thought-images onto other persons’ minds or to other surfaces. 6 2.1.2 Nature of Consciousness – Scientific View Many people believe that whatever we experience through our 6 senses is reality. This is incorrect. It is just a digital interpretation of the signals perceived from the five senses about the environment by our brain. For example, let us consider vision: If we are looking at a table, how exactly does our brain from a vision of the table?. Light waves from the sun or other sources fall on the table and get reflected. The photons in the light waves bounce off more photons from the table. These bouncing photons from the table enter our retina and hit the back of the eye and produce electrical signals.
The signals are carried by the optic nerve and are interpreted by the brain which forms the vision for us.
How does the brain know how a table looks like and what is the reference point it uses ?. The truth is that the unconscious mind or a higher consciousness already knows how a table looks like and our mind merely references and matches what we are seeing to form a vision of the table for us.
The 80 milliseconds rule Have you ever noticed how your brain is able to sync up both light and sound waves to present a cohesive picture for you ? Sound travels at the speed of only 330 m/s whereas light travels at a speed of 3X108 m/s. Experiment 3: So when you see a person clap his hands or speak, we should see the clap first or his lips move before we can even hear the sound. But this does not happen. We can both see and hear at the same time. This is because there is a delay of 80 milliseconds when the brain waits for all the signals and constructs a cohesive picture of the reality for us. Everything we see is delayed by 80 milliseconds. This 80 ms rule is universal and gets offset only beyond a distance of 30 metres. When the person stands beyond 30m and claps his hands, we will see it first before hearing it just as in the case of lightning and thunder. Similarly, you can notice that if you touch your toe and the nose at the same time by your two different hands, both the sensations are felt at the same time eventhough the signal from your nose should have reached your brain first. Have you ever noticed that our consciousness is also able to cover up gaps in information like for example when we blink our eye ? – the eyeblinks are never consciously visible.
It can be demonstrated by simple optical illusion experiments that our conscious brain is capable of making up a lot of stuff pretty quickly and fill up the gaps by itself. So do we know what else our brain is making up? Can we really trust that our brain to produce the full picture of the reality with our mere five senses ?. We can only assume that the reality is an illusion which is formed by the brain or the individual mind based on the signals from the five senses while adding its own perspectives.

The Size & Scale of the Reality that we Experience At first, it may be very hard to digest that the most solid things that we see in front of us are merely part of an illusion. But it may not be that hard if you consider the actual size and scale of our reality: Right now, you are not just sitting but rotating at a tremendous speed of 660,000 miles/hour while being on top of an enourmous sphere of molten magma (Earth) around a nuclear fireball (The Sun) which is 90,000 miles away from you. – Does that sound normal ? .
On a macroscopic scale, our planet is merely the third from the sun in a solar system which is composed of atleast nine planets and other yet to be identified ones, moons, thousand of asteroids, meteors and rocks flying through space which is largely empty. And our solar system is in one corner of the Milky Way Galaxy which is composed of atleast 400 billion stars similar to our sun with probably as many or more 7
planets. And there are 250 billion known galaxies similar to our MilkyWay galaxy in the Universe. And finally, this year physicists have found faint evidences of not an Universe, but an Multiverse of several universes in the cosmos! (Reference: Multiverse Cover Story -Newsweek, 21, May 2012). We use Einstein’s Theories of Relativity to interpret the natural laws on the planetary scale.
On a microscopic scale, we find that matter is made up of molecules and atoms. If we divide 1 millimetre into one million parts, we arrive at the atom. The atom is composed of a nucleus with electrons revolving around it. While studying the atom, Rutherford and other physicists were shocked by the amount of empty space inside the atom. If the nucleus were to be scaled up and imagined as a person, the electron is another person located some 30kms away. The huge empty space in the atom is filled by a tremendous amount of dark energy which is so amply demonstrated by the benefits of nuclear energy, including the continuous nuclear fusion reaction in our own sun and the distant stars. The nucleus in turn is found to be composed of protons and neutrons. The proton and neutrons are in turn found to be made up of smaller subatomic particles like quarks and bosons. These quarks were found to be merely quanta of energy and not any solid matter as such. We use theories of Quantum Mechanics to interpret the natural laws on a subatomic scale.
Quantum Mechanics Interpretation of MindReality or Thought Universe On Quantum Mechanics, Neils Bohr said "Anyone who is not profoundly shocked by the quantum theory has simply not understood it". It all started first with Heisenberg’s Uncertainity Principle which postulated that you cannot accurately measure the momentum and position of a particle at the same time. The more precisely you measure the momentum of a particle, the less precisely and simultaneously you can measure the position and vice versa.
Then came Rutherford’s Double Slit experiment on the nature of light waves. Till the 19
th Century, Light was believed to be transmitted in wave format. The double slit experiment changed that and showed that the light exhibited both particle (photon) and wave properties. Dual Nature (Wave & Particle) of Subatomic particles When a stream of electrons or photons (light) are allowed to pass through a single slit, they produce a single band on the film board on the other side, thereby exhibiting the particle nature of photons or electrons. When we use two slits instead of a single slit, it is observed that two waves from the slits interact with each other on the other side and produce an interference pattern on the film. Now this proves the wave nature of photons or electrons. So, when we just pass a single electron through the double slit, we just expect a single band pattern, i.e, the single electron will behave as a single particle, right ?. Wrong. Even a single electron produced the same interference pattern. This is because the single electron was somehow able to divide itself and enter both the slits and interfere with each other in wave format thereby again producing the interference pattern. So the scientists decided to observe and find out if the electron really entered both the slits or one slit only. This is where it gets really interesting. The moment they started observing the single electron (through a photon detector), it started to behave like a particle and produced the single band. It no longer behaved like a wave. i.e., The very action of the observation seemed to change the nature of the electron – it collapsed its wave function and become a particle. It was as if the electron was conscious that it was being observed.
Schrodinger’s equation described the wavefunction of the quantum state with the respect to Time. The variable nature of time is particularly observable at the subatomic level. The wavefunction collapse is the most surprising aspect of quantum mechanics. The uncertainity associated with quantum mechanics 8
gave raise to several theories such as the Quantum Tunnelling (similar to the black holes in the relativity scale) and the proverbial Schrodinger’s Cat. The French physicist De Broglie proposed the matter waves or De Broglie waves which reflects the wave-particle duality of matter.

Wave character of electrons
Again, if we look closely and really observe how the electron exhibits this wave character, it can be found that the electron simply disappears from one position and reappears in the other position. i.e, it disappears into thin air (gets converted into energy) and reappears out of nowhere (gets converted from energy to matter back again). It seems to get destroyed and recreated. All the appearances of the electron form the crests of the wave format and all the positions where the electron goes missing (does not appear) form the troughs of the wave format. This has deep implications when considered on a global scale like the metaphysical concepts of reincarnation and teleportation.
Implications of Wave-Particle Duality for Bigger Objects
So can we apply what is observed on a subatomic level to a much higher level ? The answer is yes though science is yet to fully support this claim. All matter including people exhibit a bit of both wave and particle properties. Since Thought is believed to be transmitted in wave format, it implies that the wavefunction collapse should be applicable to thought waves as well and they will collapse to form all the observable objects in the universe. The very act of observation or conscious oversight will create the objects for us just as in the case of the electron. This goes to follow that the act of conscious observation by itself can create our reality. So are we really a wave or a particle ? Probably both which some quantum scientists now prefer to call as a ‘wavicle’. It also gives rise to the possibility where every single thing in the known universe is probably a thought wave in vibration.
Are there 7 billion versions of warped reality ?
Currently, there are 7 billion people in the world. So, does this mean that there are atleast 7 billion bubbles of warped reality i.e., individual centric realities out there?. The answer is no. There is still only one Collective reality which is formed by the collective thoughts of everyone in the world. The thought waves of all the people interfere with each other, cancel each other out and are balanced by the unconscious mind or higher consciousness thereby producing the collective reality for everyone.
There is also another school of thought which says that there are actually billions of universes out there which get created based on each choice that a single individual makes – i.e, there is a universe where Obama is President and there is another universe where Mitt Romney is President, a universe where you are a businessman, another where you are a scientist and so on. Every single conscious thought or decision will create its own separate SpaceTime continuum. There is less support for this theory of Parallel Universes. But the last word hasn’t clearly been said yet!.
