Session State Management in sharepoint 2010?

We are implementing session state management in SharePoint 2010. Can you please share resources or examples describing mechanism to handle the state management in SharePoint 2010?

I have started “State Service” from services in Central Admin and already tried with adding “<add name='Session' type='System.Web.SessionState.SessionStateModule'/>” under the section “configuration/system.webServer/modules” of web.config file and  set “enableSessionState” attribute to true still it shows error for session management.

        Any help or suggestions would be helpful.
